» How do I use it?

Self-storage at Home Port can be used for many purposes:

  • As an extension of your home; a place to store seldom used items
  • To store seasonal items such as decorations or sports equipment
  • As a business storage solution to de-clutter your office
  • To free up garage space so you can actually park your car in it again
  • and many more!

» How do I know what size I need?

» How long do I need storage?

Home Port Self Storage  recognizes the need to move your items out when the time is right. Our month to month rentals give you the flexibility to choose just how long you require your unit.  If you recognize that you need a long term storage solution of at least a year, we offer the 13th month free, if you commit to and pay for 12 months in advance.  

» What is climate-controlled & do I need it?

Climate controlled storage units are temperature controlled so your treasured belongings are not exposed to extreme temperatures. Our climate controlled facilities are housed in an indoor finished building where dirt and dust are less likely to penetrate. They are heated and air conditioned, and have motion activated lights. This type of environment is ideal for storing furniture, photographs, discs/records, electronics, and other items. 

» Do I need to have a lock?

You provide the lock ensuring that you, and only you, have access. Don’t have a lock? No problem, we offer locks for sale in our office! 

» Do I need insurance for my stored goods?

We do not require insurance, although you may want to be sure your items are covered under your home insurance.

» How do I get my items to the unit?

Many of our units have 5 foot wide drive aisles, allowing your rental truck or movers easy access to your unit.

» When can I access my unit?

Your unit is accessible 24 hours!

» What is a drive-up unit? 

Our non-climate controlled units offer drive up access by car or truck.  

» What is a roll-up door?

Roll up doors make it easier to drive up and load and unload your from your vehicle.

» How far in advance can I book a reservation?

Based on availability, we attempt to accommodate your timeline.

» What are the payment terms?

We offer a month to month contract, with a 2 month minimum. We also offer the 13th month free if you commit and pay for 12 months up front.

» Do you take credit cards?

We take cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. 

» What kind of documentation is required to rent a storage unit?

The paperwork required is a completed lease agreement along with a copy of your license.

» Do I need to give you a notice when I am ready to move out?  

We require a 30 days notice.
